Daily writing prompt
If you were forced to wear one outfit over and over again, what would it be?

Who doesn’t wish it was easier to pick out an outfit in the morning? I remember an episode of Doug where everyone started wearing the same thing as Doug because the popular television show had his outfit as the cool outfit of the week. He had to explain to all of his friends that he was not just super cool but that he always wore that outfit. Not really important but I would love to be a cartoon character and not have to worry about it. Wake up throw on my khaki shorts, red tennis shoes, white t-shirt, and a green sweater vest.

Although I also think about Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg who use one outfit as some sort of statement on their genius. While I am not here to debate their IQ I can say that you don’t have to buy multiple black shirts and jeans. You could buy like every color of one type of shirt. That way you don’t really have to decide you can just wear them in order of how they are in your closet. No real thinking involved.

Clothes don’t seem important until you wear cheap clothes for a long time. Especially shoes. I have had lots of free t-shirts and cheap $10 shoes in my life and all of those clothes have ripped, faded, and become worn out really quickly. It is important to spend a little bit of money when looking for clothes, especially if you are going to be wearing these clothes every day for the rest of your life.

Now I know it says one outfit but I am thinking one outfit but with multiple different copies of said outfit. It would be annoying to have to take it off and wash it every day or so. So now we know that it needs to be high-quality and multiple copies of said items.

For the top I would choose something basic. Loose but not baggy. As well it needs to be a good fabric that doesn’t chafe or hold in smells. That means almost all synthetic fibers are out. We should be looking at wool, cotton, cashmere, silk, and linen. They also make a fabric that is bamboo blended with cotton or silk. I am sure many of these are comfortable so we want a simple top with some give to it. Something that won’t fade being washed so often. So I think the top would be a short sleeve linen shirt, in an earth tone palette.

Now the bottoms are harder because you want something versatile and comfortable as well as durable. I would want to say jeans but then we run into an issue on a hot summer day. How am I going to stay cool in 90+ degree weather if I am always wearing jeans? So even though jeans are the best option I have to go with a more versatile option, zip off pants. You know they had a little bit of popularity in the late 90’s early 2000’s. Pants that can zip off at the knee and become shorts would be my answer. I would want to go for a khaki or a black color, something that would go with whatever earth tone color I have for the shirt.

Shows this one is the easiest one of all, Brooks Ghost 15. I just bought a air recently and they are the best shoes I have ever owned. They have the right amount of cushion for long days spent on my feet. They are breathable on a hot day so I can wear them in the hot summer and not feel like I am going to overheat. I have grey but I think a black or dark blue would be best to match the shirt and pants.

I think accessories don’t count so I will not elaborate. Perhaps I am wrong though. So my outfit is an earth-tone linen t-shirt, with black or khaki zip off pants, and Brooks Ghost 15 shoes in a black or dark blue.
